About Us

MOORHOLME began in 1970 when Harry and Val Moore along with their three sons, Wayne, Rod and Glenn purchased a Collie (Rough) Glyntwood Sir Camelot. In 1973 we purchased our first Collie Bitch and 1975 saw us breed our first Collie litter. As the number of dogs increased we searched for a number of years to find the right property location and in 1979 purchased the property in Bassett Road.

Since 1970 we have been involved in showing, breeding and owning Collies (Rough and Smooth), Samoyeds, Belgian Shepherds (Groenendael and Tervueren), Shetland Sheepdogs, Shiba Inus and Maltese.

Both Wayne and Glenn have handled many other breeds in the conformation arena over many, many years and both Wayne and Rod were seen regularly training their Collies at Northern Obedience Dog Club back in the later half of the 1970's.

Val and Glenn are both ANKC Licensed Working Group Judges, having judged Internationally, Interstate and Intrastate, whilst Wayne was heavily involved in administration as Member Services Manager for the Victorian Canine Association (Kennel Control Council), now known as Dogs Victoria, whilst working part time in the family business.

Val, Wayne and his wife Linda and Glennsí involvement in the Victorian Dog World have seen them serve on many Specialist (Breed), Semi-Specialist (Multi -Breed) and All Breeds Kennel Club committees over many years.

Cats have also been a major influence in our lives and have been in the family continuously since 1957.

Since 2002 Wayne in conjunction with one of his daughters Josie, has taken over the day to day activities of running Moorholme Park.

Both Wayne and Josie are Qualified Dog Obedience Instructors.
